Neurosurgical trainer for minimally invasive (endoscopic) brain surgery

Description:

Minimally invasive neuroendoscopic procedures are increasingly used for brain tumor, brain cancer, and traumatic brain injuries. There is, however, an unmet need for a specialized training simulator for neurosurgeons for endoscopic skills. A research group led by Dr. Jenifer Wagner at University of Colorado recently developed a novel surgical simulator with detail brain structures and a series of skill stations. Post-course survey by 8 surgeons has shown significant efficacy and ease of use of the training program. The training course would be an ideal addition for medical school and surgical residency programs.
