CUTO-33 Cell Line (Colorado University Thoracic Oncology cell line, number 33), expressing a CD74-ROS1 gene fusion.

Description:
CUTO-33 Cell Line (Colorado University Thoracic Oncology cell line, number 33), expressing an CD74-ROS1 gene fusion.

A group of researchers led by Dr. Robert Doebele derived a CUTO-33 immortal cell line from a malignant pleural effusion of a patient with lung adenocarcinoma. This patient’s cancer and the cell line harbor a ROS1 gene rearrangement, that encodes the following gene fusion protein:CD74 [exons 1-6]: ROS1 [exons 34-43]. To date there exist only two other ROS1gene fusion cell lines are publicly available for investigating ROS1gene fusion-driven cancer.  This ROS1 cell line contains a novel a 5’ fusion partner and its genomic rearrangement is distinct form the other ROS1 fusion cell lines. Companies developing diagnostic detection methods for ROS1 rearrangements would benefit from this additional cell line in validating their assay. Also, an additional ROS1 fusion cell line would guide drug companies in their refinement of their candidate drug.
