Drs. Devatha Nair and Dmitri Simberg at the University of Colorado developed a nanogel specifically designed to treat Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs). The nanogel allows a localized and sustainable delivery of drugs within the urothelium. The nanogel is formed as a polymeric 3-dimensional network which is biodegradable and naturally excreted by the body. In addition, the nanaogel is easily activated by light to release the drugs.
